About

Debra Kennedy’s honest, lyrical writing explores the journeys of motherhood, aging, familial obligation and regret within the landscapes that shape them. Her narratives have been published in Midstory, Dreamers, Quagmire, Persimmon Tree, and Focus on Women magazines, and short-listed in the Okanagan and Myslexia Short Story Contests. She has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education and has studied with many wonderful writing and visual art mentors. She has followed many paths in her life, always returning to her roots in the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa people in British Columbia. Along the way, she became a mother, a teacher, and a grandmother. Retired from teaching now, she has more time to explore and expand her horizons—writing, painting, cooking, gardening, travelling, and skiing and cycling the trails in the Kootenays.
